Separatist March in Taipei Condemned

The spokesman of the Taiwan Affairs Office under the State Council Sunday denounced the Oct. 25 march that called for a new "constitution" through referendum in Kaohsiung of Taiwan.

"The march organized by the Democratic Progressive Party and some 'Taiwan independence' organizations, Chen Shuibian's promoting of separatism and Annette Lu's fanning of a new constitution through referendum are all aimed at 'Taiwan independence'," said Li Weiyi.

"This fully shows the Taiwan authorities leaders' non-independence commitments in the past years are thoroughly false," he said.

"These separatist activities are disasters against Taiwan and will directly harm the fundamental interests of compatriots in Taiwan," he said.

"Taiwan and the mainland are of one country, and China's sovereignty and territory are inseparable," Li said.

"Any separatist activities aimed at 'Taiwan independence' are doomed to failure, for they will never be tolerated by all Chinese people," Li concluded.
