Think Tank Publishes Population & Labor Report

China's biggest think tank, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, has published its 2004 edition of the Green Book on Population and Labor.

The book, whose main topics are demographic transitions and educational development, explores the opportunities brought by population shifts and ways to share educational resources equally. It includes three special reports and nine chapters.

The special reports analyze the employment situation and Chinese family planning policy in 2003 and offer suggestions for policies and actions concerning employment in 2004.

The remainder of the book explains and examines the problems that exist in Chinese educational development, especially in the areas of inequality between genders and between rural and urban areas. It also proposes solutions to these problems.
