NBS Revises up China's 2003 GDP

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) pronounced on October 14 that China's GDP rose 9.3 percent in 2003 over that in 2002. The speed is 0.2 percent faster than it had been originally thought.

The national income, standing at 11.66 trillion yuan, increased by 10 percent in 2003 than the previous year. The GDP registered 11.7252 trillion yuan which was 55.8 biliion yuan more than the figure announced before.

The first, second and the tertiary industry valued 1.7092 trillion yuan, 6.1274 trillion yuan, and 3.8886 trillion yuan respectively. The GDP based on the expenditure approach reached 12. 1511 trillion yuan.

The revised statistics also recorded 5.5567 trillion yuan worth of fixed assets investment in 2003, 44.9 billion yuan higher than the previously released data. The national revenue stood at 2.1717 trillion yuan while the expenditure amounted to 2.4650 trillion yuan.

The state-owned sector and non state-owned sector above the specific scale created production value of 14.2271 trillion yuan and added value of 4.199 trillion yuan.

The architecture generated production value of 2.3084 trillion yuan. More than 2.59 billion square meters of space is under construction and more than 1.228 billion square meters have been completed.
