Suspects Responsible for Villagers' Death Seized in Hebei
Twenty-two suspects, who are responsible for the death of six villagers and injury of other dozens in a besetting incident occurred in Shengyou Village of Dingzhou City in north China's Hebei Province, were seized by Dingzhou police, said sources from local police Saturday.

At 4:30 AM, June 11, over 300 armed people beset and attacked hundreds of villagers at the lime construction site of Guohua Dingzhou Power Plant nearby Shengyou Village. Two villagers were killed on spot, other four were dead in hospital, and dozens of others were injured.

An investigation team was immediately set up following the incident. Preliminary investigation discovered that the incident was plotted by the contractor Zhang and her husband.

Some villagers were discontented about the compensation for land requisition, and moved to the construction site since beginning of 2004, trying to stop the construction. The dispute between the contractor and villagers has remained since then.

The provincial government has arranged the relief work, including offering hospitalization for 51 injured villagers, and medical check-up for other injured.

Further investigation is still going on.
