Procurators Urged to Uphold Justice

The procurator-general of the Supreme People's Procuratorate urged procuratorates across the country yesterday to safeguard justice and pay special attention to detecting job-related crimes committed by law-enforcement personnel.

"Procuratorates should step up supervision over criminal cases handled by law enforcement departments, so as to crack down on criminal activities timely and efficiently," Jia Chunwang said at the current national working conference of procuratorates.

The main difference between Chinese procuratorates and their foreign counterparts is that in China, they not only work as public prosecutors but also play the role of supervisor over activities of other law-enforcement departments, Jia said.
