22 Asian Countries Endorse Foshan Declaration

Cultural Ministers from 22 Asian countries endorsed the Foshan Declaration Saturday upon the conclusion of the Asia Cultural Ministerial Forum.

The Foshan Declaration said in the process of economic globalization, the important role of culture and cultural elements in international relations and social development is becoming increasingly prominent. Cultural exchange and cooperation is conducive to the peace and development of Asian countries.

"We stand ready to strengthen cultural exchange and dialogue among different civilizations on the basis of equality and mutual benefit, enhance understanding and appreciation among Asian peoples and peoples of the world, reinforce coordination and communication among governmental cultural departments and enhance cultural exchanges in Asia," said the Declaration.

At the two-day Asia Cultural Ministerial Forum, cultural officials from 22 Asian countries discussed on the issues of how to reserve and develop cultural diversity in Asia, as well as in the world and how to keep the Asian regional cultural cooperation in pace with the regional economic cooperation.
