Fujian Frontier's Combat Against Smuggling Fruitful

The frontier police of east China's Fujian Province achieved great success in combating smuggling last year.

According to statistics, the frontier police in Fujiang cracked down more than 100 smuggling cases in 2000, confiscating 43.7 million yuan (US$5.3 million) worth of smuggled goods, including cigarettes, gasoline, steel and cars.

Meanwhile, the frontier police raided an underground workshop manufacturing "ice", seizing 2,500 kg of "ice" and two sets of processing equipment.

In addition, the frontier police detected a production line making counterfeit cigarettes, capturing plenty of fake cigarettes and tobacco.

While intensifying patrolling on the sea, Fujian's frontier police has also strengthened checking on the shore, forming two defense lines to bar smugglers.
