China Fulfills WTO Commitment

China says it has been effectively fulfilling its commitments to the World Trade Organization since its ascension to the world trade body three years ago.

A senior official from China's Ministry of Commerce said Saturday in Beijing that since China entered the WTO, tariffs have dropped from an average of 15.6 percent in 2000 to 10.6 percent this year.

A further decrease in China's tariffs will happen next year.

Chinese imports have experienced rapid growth in recent years as the market continues to open.

Meanwhile, the Chinese government has revised more than 2300 legal documents on trade and intellectual property rights to provide a stable environment for investors.

China's Foreign Trade Law also took effect this year in an effort to promote its foreign trade business.
