Dongfeng Reports Fast Rise in Production, Sales

Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFM), one of China's three leading automobile makers, headquartered in Central China's Hubei Province, turned out 95,000 automobiles and sold 91,000 in the first two months of the year.

Production increased 32.6 percent and sales 24 percent from the comparable figures of last year, said DFM sources.

DFM produces a wide range of automobiles from heavy-duty and light-duty trucks to cars models Teana, Sunny, Bluebird, Dongfeng Citroen Picasso, Dongfeng Citroen Elysee and Dongfeng Peugeot 307.

From January to February, DFM made more than 56,000 and sold over 44,000 commercial automobiles, and produced 39,000 and sold 46,000 multiple purpose vehicles (MPV), all showing double-digit increases from the same period last year, said DFM spokesman.

Dongfeng Motor Co Ltd, a joint venture between China's State-owned Dongfeng Motor Corporation and Nissan Motors of Japan, fared well in the past two months. The Sino-Japanese joint venture turned out 33,000 commercial automobiles and sold 23,000 such vehicles, and produced 14,000 and sold 16,000 MPVs, again all showing double digit rises.
