China-made Buses Go Abroad

Although some doubt whether the time has come for China-made buses to go international, Chinese bus manufacturers have not stopped on their way to the global market.

Today, Zhengzhou Yutong Bus, China's leading bus manufacturer, held a grand ceremony at the Zhengzhou Yutong Industrial Park. The "China Yutong: A Powerful Step toward the World" ceremony is of great significance for China's bus export.

In Mach, Yutong signed the largest bus export contract in the history of the Chinese bus industry with Cuba, taking its first step towards the global market. Yutong aims to become a top ten bus manufacturer by 2008.

After lengthy negotiations, Yutong and Cuba signed a contract on Mar. 31, 2005. This 240 million yuan agreement involves the sale of 400 buses, and is the milestone being celebrated today. However, the public attaches greater significance to the development of the Chinese bus industry and its transition from an import-oriented to export-oriented business that is reflected in this contract.

After more than ten years of development, the scale of the Chinese bus industry has grown significantly. Through the investment of foreign capital and the introduction of advanced technologies in recent years, Chinese bus manufacturers have reached international standards in terms of quality. China-made buses are gradually improving their product images in the global marketplace and obtaining the recognition of overseas buyers.

Bus manufacturing belongs to the set of labor-intensive industries and China has very low labor costs. High quality and low prices are, therefore, the biggest advantages of China-made buses.
