3G in China Summit to Open in September

The Global Summit-3G in China will be held in Beijing this September to discuss its development in China.

China would release a plan on 3G license issuance at the summit, according to officials from the Ministry of Information Industry.

They expect 3G cell phones to become commercialized by the end of this year.

Compared with the previous two generations of mobile phones, 3G handsets boast multimedia functions like photography, music and videos.

Chinese governmental officials, domestic and overseas telecom operators and 3G experts are expected to attend the meeting, from September 14 to 16.
