US-China Textile Talks Set for Sept. 26-27

The US government said on Thursday that it will hold a new round of textile negotiations with China in Washington from September 26 to 27.

The US Trade Representative office announced that the US delegations will be led by David Spooner, the chief US negotiator on textiles trade.

The new meeting comes after US-Chinese textile talks in Beijing ended late last month without an agreement.

Meanwhile, the US textile industry on Thursday asked the US government for new safeguards against Chinese exports. A coalition of industry organizations filed petitions with the US government demanding the renewal of nine quota safeguards covering sixteen categories of textile imports from China through to the end of 2006.
