Exchanges with Foreign Power Companies Promised

A senior Chinese official voiced the hope Monday that Chinese power grid companies will promote exchanges with their counterparts in other countries to guarantee electric supply for the country's economic development.

Chinese Vice Premier Huang Ju made the remarks in a meeting with the participants in an international conference of large power grid operators.

He said electric power industry is the foundation for national economic development, and the operation of power grid is related to social stability and security.

Huang said China's electric power industry will speed up technological renovation and progress, and China is building up the power grid which conforms to its own energy resource characteristics.

Rajendra Prasad Singh, chairman of Power Grid India, pledged he will push forward transnational power grid exchanges.
