China Eximbank to Give More Support to SMEs

The Export-Import Bank of China (China Eximbank) will offer more support for the financing services of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), Liang Xiang, its bank governor's assistant was quoted by the Economic Daily as saying.

Previously the bank put its service focus on large-sized enterprises and projects, but now it will provide service for more SMEs, Liang was quoted as saying.

China Eximbank is one of the country's three policy-oriented banks established in 1994. The bank is working on favorable policies to support SME financing, including lowering the threshold for loans to SMEs, said Liang at a recent seminar on international financing.

In the future, the bank will underscore the bolstering of mature collectively-owned and privately-owned enterprises of transparent financial situation, such as profitable listing firms and enterprises with famous-brand products, he said.

The bank will also give moderate support to growing collectively-owned and private enterprises with relatively transparent financial practices and competitive products, he said.

The bank is thinking of establishing a special fund to provide a guarantee for commercial bank direct loans to SMEs, he said.
