China's Foreign Trade Surpasses US$500 Bln in 2001
China's total foreign trade volume amounted to US$509.77 billion in 2001, an increase of 7.5 percent from the previous year, according to statistics from the General Administration of Customs.

Of the total, exports were valued at US$266.16 billion, up 6.8 percent; and imports totaled US$243.61 billion, up 8.2 percent. The year 2001 saw a favorable balance of US$22.55 billion.

In December 2001, the foreign trade volume grew 8.1 percent to US$46.89 billion, with exports up 11.5 to US$24.5 billion and imports up 4.6 percent to US$22.39 billion, leaving a favorable balance of US$2.11 billion.
