Major Economic Figures in 2001 Against 2000
Gross domestic product rose 7.3 per cent to 9,593.3 billion yuan (US$1,156 billion).

Retail sales of consumer goods rose 10.1 per cent to 3,759.5 billion yuan (US$453 billion).

Per capita urban residents' disposable income rose 8.5 per cent to 6,860 yuan (US$827).

Per capita rural residents' net income rose 4.2 per cent to 2,366 yuan (US$285).

Fixed assets investment rose 12.1 per cent to 3,689.8 billion yuan (US$445 billion).

Imports rose 8.2 per cent to US$243.6 billion.
