French Kids' Wear Chain Chooses HK as Asian Headquarters
Hong Kong has been chosen as the Asian headquarters of Orchestra, a French children's wear chain with over 170 stores in Europe, the Middle East and Russia, said Mike Rowse, head of Invest HK, a government investment promoting body, Thursday.

"Hong Kong is not only the shopping capital of Asia; it is also a fantastic stepping-stone into China and the rest of Asia. Brands that gain recognition and credibility in Hong Kong tend to work in the rest of the region," said Director of Orchestra (Asia) Ltd Guy Mazzoni.

To address the Chinese mainland market, Orchestra will be setting up a franchise network with local Hong Kong partners who will provide the appropriate experience and networking.

"Hong Kong benefits more than anywhere else in the world from an efficient working populous and infrastructure as well as an environment that embraces great flexibility and adopts new technologies at a fast pace," said Mazzoni.

Rowse said "the strong purchasing power from the local residents as well as the large number of visitors from the mainland and other Asian countries provide a huge potential customer base."
