Volkswagen's New Compact Car Polo Hits Chinese Market
Shanghai Volkswagen formally introduced its new compact car Polo to the Chinese market Monday, driving new heat into an already whiteheat market.

A spokesman for the Shanghai Volkswagen claimed that Polo is the first compact car that is produced and sold in China at the same time with other major markets.

Polo, sold for 127,500 to 148,000 yuan depending on different models, is a high-end compact car aimed at customers that care about personality and cost performance ratios, the spokesman said.

According to Volkswagen sources, more than seven million Polo cars have been sold worldwide since the first Polo car was produced in 1975, making it one of the best known brands under Volkswagen.

Shanghai Volkswagen has received orders for 6,000 cars since March 25, when it began to accept reservations.

This accounts for one fifth of the expected production this year, said Volkswagen sources, adding that it is very warm reaction from the market.
