Int'l Grape, Wine Forum to Open in September
The 2002 International Grape and Wine Forum is to be held from September 8 to 10 in Yantai, a port city in east China's peninsula province of Shandong.

The forum is jointly sponsored by the Office International de la Vigne et du Vin (OIV), the China Association of Brewery Industries and Yantai municipal government.

The forum aims to enhance exchanges between Chinese and foreignbrewers, and will host wine experts from OIV member countries, major foreign wine enterprises and equipment suppliers, together with domestic winemakers and dealers.

The association will also negotiate with the OIV over China's entry into the organization.

A variety of public events will be staged, as the forum coincides with the 15th anniversary of Yantai being named the International Grape/Wine City by the OIV and the 110th anniversaryof Zhangyu Group, the pioneer Chinese wine producer.

The 47-member OIV, founded in 1924, is an inter-government organization specializing in the wine industry and technologies.
