China Establishes First National Anti-piracy Organization
China's first national anti-piracy organization, the Anti-Piracy Committee, was established in Beijing on Friday.

The committee, established under the authority of the CopyrightSociety of China, is composed of 82 members from anti-piracy organizations all over the country.

The committee will coordinate the anti-piracy efforts initiatedby different regions, industries, departments and individuals, andit will handle anti-piracy related affairs, as required by copyright owners and their deputies, of investigating, collecting evidence, asking for administrative regulation or filing a lawsuit.

Copyright-related industries include software, movie and TV production, records and publishing.

Customs statistics indicate that China seized 50 million pirated compact discs in the first seven months of this year.
