Bloomberg Opens Sales Office in Shanghai
"Bloomberg is optimistic about the future of China. The whole world is focusing attention on the development potential of this country," Peter Grauer, chairman and president of the well-known financial market news services and media company, said in Shanghai Thursday.

Grauer succeeded Michael Bloomberg in February after the founder of the privately owned news agency became the mayor of New York.

Thursday, Grauer met with Shanghai Vice Mayor Jiang Sixian and announced the opening of Shanghai office for sales of Bloomberg terminals.

"China is playing a significant role in the world market. The growth of China's stock markets and foreign investment is good for our business," Grauer said.

On China's mainland, Bloomberg has two news bure-aux in Beijing and Shanghai.

Bloomberg is keen to sell its terminals to Chinese users. Currently it has about 5,000 corporate and individual subscribers on China's mainland and in Hong Kong.

Headquartered in New York, Bloomberg employs 8,000 people in over 100 offices worldwide. It has forged a unique position within the financial services industry with the Bloomberg Professional service, which provides a combination of data, analytics, electronic trading and straight-through processing tools in a single platform.

In addition to the Bloomberg Professional service, Bloomberg has grown to include global news, television, radio, Internet, and magazine and book publishing operations. Bloomberg's Web site, Bloomberg.com, is among the top five most-visited sites in the United States for financial news and information.
