Shenzhen Tops China in Exports
For the 10th year in a row, Shenzhen City in south China's Guangdong Province ranks first for exports among large and medium-sized Chinese cities.

The city, north of Hong Kong, generated foreign trade worth 84.42 billion US dollars last year, up 27.1 percent from 2001, sources from the local customs said.

Exports made up 49.96 billion US dollars, up 23.6 percent, and imports went up by 31.3 percent to hit 39.47 billion US dollars, said the sources.

While heralding the sharp rise in exports as miraculous, Gong Zheng, head of the Shenzhen Customs, attributed the growth to improvements in the city's investment environment and the enhanced competitiveness of Chinese companies.
