Shanghai to Hold Int'l Exhibition on Electronics Manufacturing
The 13th Shanghai international electronics manufacturing equipment and micro-eletronic products exhibition is scheduled to be held from Apr. 4 to 8 this year, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) has announced.

The exhibition, NEPCON Shanghai/EMT 2003 China, is expected to draw representatives from over 500 enterprises from countries and regions such as the United States, Germany, Japan, Britain, Singapore, Italy, Switzerland, Sweden, and China, including TaiwanProvince and Hong Kong region, CCPIT sources said.

The exhibition, co-sponsored by the CCPIT and the Reed Exhibitions, will mainly display exhibits concerning printed circuit plates, semiconductor manufacturing technology, manufacturing equipment, lead-free welding technology, electronic spare parts and modules which can be widely applied in telecommunications, home appliances, information and games, the sources added.

China ranks third in the world in terms of electronic products manufacturing, according to Li Baosheng, deputy director of the Electronic Information Branch of the CCPIT.

The country reaped 169.3 billion yuan (20.4 billion US dollars)in sales of electronics and information products in 2002, with exports and imports amounting to 92 billion US dollars and 85.1 billion US dollars respectively.

China is becoming one of the world's leading IT markets, attracting a cumulative overseas investment of over 40 billion US dollars in recent years, Li added.
