Beijing's FDI Increases 50% in April
Beijing's foreign direct investment saw a 50 percent increase in April over the previous month. Most of the foreign investment is in the tertiary sector, reaching some 200 million US dollars.

Municipal government data indicate FDI for the first quarter totaled 600 million US dollars, representing a 15 percent increase over the same period in 2002.

Most of the foreign investment in Beijing is in the tertiary sector, especially wholesale, retail, and entertainment services.

The Chinese capital has also witnessed a rapid increase in foreign investment in the manufacture of electronic and communications apparatus as well as the chemical industry.
