HK's Re-exports Up in First 5 Months This Year
Hong Kong's value of re-exports of goods to most of the major destinations showed increases between 2.8 percent and 31.6 percent respectively in the first five months this year, comparing with last year's same period.

According to the statistics released by the Census and Statistics Department Friday, Hong Kong's re-export to the Netherlands increased most by 31.6 percent, China's Taiwan by 28.2 percent, the Chinese mainland 27.6 percent and Germany by 24.1 percent.

In May, Hong Kong's value of re-export to most of its major destinations also indicated an increase, in comparison with May last year. Hong Kong's value of re-export to the Netherlands went up the most by 55.6 percent, followed by Germany by 24.2 percent and the Chinese mainland by 22.6 percent.

However, the statistics showed that the value of HK's re-exports of goods to the United States of America fell by 1.1 percent in May.

Comparing the first five months of 2003 with the same period in2002, increases were registered in the value of re-exports of electrical machinery, apparatus and appliances, and electrical parts, telecommunications, sound recording and reproducing apparatus and equipment, office machines and automatic data processing machines and other sorts of commodities to different extents.
