Japanese Insurance Company Expands Businesses in China

The Sompo Insurance Inc., Japan's second largest property insurance company, opened Monday a representative office in Suzhou City, east China's Jiangsu Province, to serve Japanese-funded enterprises in Jiangsu and neighboring Zhejiang Province.

Sompo has been expanding its businesses in China, with a branch set up in Dalian, a coastal city in northeast China's Liaoning Province, as well as business outlets in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, as well as Taipei and Hong Kong.

With its headquarters in Tokyo, the company has 125 branches and 687 business outlets in Japan, and many branches in 39 cities worldwide, offering services of property, freight, vehicle, engineering, responsibility, guarantee, employees' loyalty, aviation and life insurance.
