Benin formally recognized China's full market economy status during Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong's official visit to the country.

A spokesman for the vice president says Togo made the same announcement during Zeng Qinghong's visit to that country.

China and the two West African countries hope the recognition of China's market economy will promote the development of economic and technological cooperation.
