Shanghai Power Consumption Sets Record

Shanghai registered a record-high consumption of 13.66 million kwh of electricity at about 1:35 p.m. Friday, which was 50,000 kwh more than the previous record high, according to the local power supply department.

Local power-generating units were operating at full capacity at 10.62 million kw, said the department, adding that the power grids were working in a safe and stable situation.

Enough power supply ensures that the living of locals and production of enterprises proceed normally, added the department.

Scorching weather and impending holidays for local students are the main reasons behind the vast power consumption.
