Two coal mines caught fire on Sunday leaving seven people dead in central China's Hunan Province, said local authorities on Monday.

The accidents happened in the Linwu County of Chenzhou City on Sunday. Some people were believed to be missing and the rescue work has already started.

The mine owners are believed to have fled. Investigation into the cases is underway.
