KMT Officers in Resistance War Remembered

More than 100 former Kuomintang (KMT) army officers are on a list of outstanding heroes in China's war of resistance against Japanese aggression, displayed at an ongoing exhibition on the 60th anniversary of China's victory in the war.

"During the war, forces led by the Communist Party of China fought the Japanese aggressors in their rear areas while the KMT troops fought in the frontline battlefield. They supported each other," said Li Zongyuan, an organizer of the exhibition.

Chinese people of all circles and parties were united in their heroic fight against aggressors in that war. The strong cohesive power of patriotism is the fundamental factor for China's final victory in the war, Li said.

"As we commemorate victory of the war today, we are celebrating the great national spirit reflected in that period," said Li.

Many KMT army officers also made big contributions to national liberation in that period. Their glorious deeds are equally memorable forever, said Li.
