Six workers were trapped underground due to flooding in a township coal mine Inner Mongolia, north China, local police said Tuesday.

The flooding occurred at around 7 AM Tuesday when 10 workers were working in a vertical shaft in Qianjin colliery in Yuanbaoshan District of Chifeng City. Four of them managed to escape.

Rescue work is underway.
