At least 14 people were killed in a house collapse at a coal mine in north China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region on Tuesday, according to local government.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning at the coal mine in Qitai County, east of the regional capital city, Urumqi.

No other information was available by press time.
