A road accident in north China's Shanxi Province killed at least 10 people, mostly students and teachers, early Monday morning, local police said.

A heavy-duty truck veered to one side of a village highway in Qinyuan county at around 6:00 AM Monday, hitting a group of students and teachers who were on their way to a nearby school, said Nan Xinyan, a spokesperson with the county's traffic police headquarters.

Nan said investigation is going on.
