Train Derails on Beijing No. 13 Light Rail Line

A trial-run train, carrying no passengers, derailed on the No. 13 light rail line, causing inconvenience to rail traffic in the national capital on Monday.  No one was hurt.

On trial-run at the Huilongguan section of the rail line, the train suddenly ran out of control dashing over an earth-made baffle and driving onto the trunk line.

The train derailed on the line blocking a one-way rail track between the Lishuiqiao and Huoying stations.

The Beijing Rail Transport Construction and Management Company implemented emergency traffic control to ensure two-way traffic on the opposite direction of the rail track from around 13:52 to 17:30, when the train was moved off of the track.

The cause of the brake failure is under investigation.
