The Chinese government says it has taken all necessary steps to curb human beings from becoming infected with the bird flu, amid the grim epidemic situation in the country.

Chinese Vice Premier Hui Liangyu made the statement on Wednesday at the Ministerial Conference For Asian Cooperation On highly pathogenic avian influenza control in the southwestern Chinese city of Kunming. He has called on the Asian nations to make joint efforts in the fight against bird flu.

The vice premier said that China has taken a series of steps in monitoring the bird flu epidemic situation and in the vaccinating of domestic poultry. Meanwhile, the government office has instituted an emergency plan for treating human cases of the bird flu, with an aim to report, quarantine, and treat patients early.

Hui Liangyu also called on the Asian nations to take actions to control and prevent humans from being infected with the epidemic. He said that China would offer training, vaccinations, and experts to other countries in the region.
