Chemical Spill Kills 13
Thirteen people died after liquid ammonia spilled from a fertilizer plant in east China's Shandong Province early on Monday, a source from the local production safety authority confirmed.

The ammonia spilled from a burst tube in a workshop at the Shenxian County Fertilizer Company at 2:00 am Monday. One person died on the spot and four more were found dead by 4:00 am.

Local police and a fire brigade started all-out rescue efforts right after the accident and had evacuated 48 people from the areaby press time.

Eleven seriously injured workers have been sent to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

Further investigations into the accident are still going on.
