Chinese Students Denied American Visas Protest in Beijing
The United State Embassy in Beijing has promised to look into complaints filed by some Chinese students whose visa applications have been rejected.

About two dozen college students Thursday staged a small protest outside the US embassy in in eastern Beijing. They demanded changes in how their applications are handled.

The US has tightened immigration controls since the September 11 attacks. Many Chinese students, probably as their counterparts in other countries, have had their visa applications turned down, and missed the opening of new semesters.

The new fall semester in the US starts early next month.
