The Civil Affairs Department of Hebei Province has announced the launch of a charity organization to help disadvantaged children in the north China province.
The charity will mainly target homeless and handicapped children and the children of jailed criminals.
The organization will also carry out international projects to promote children's mental and physical health and try to raise their standards of living and development to normal levels.
Some 3,000 children have been registered as in such difficulties and may expect help from the organization, the department said.
