Vice-Premier Calls for Establishment of Medical Emergency Mechanism
Vice-Premier Wu Yi has called for the immediate establishment of a national medical emergency mechanism, with emphasis placed on a public health information system and an early warning reporting mechanism.

Currently, top priority should be given to the control of severe acute respiratory syndrome, Wu said during a recent visit to the China Disease Control Center.

Talking with leading officials of the Health Ministry and medical experts on disease prevention and control, Wu also called for efforts to deepen medical reforms and improve the country's disease control system.
