Oil Leaking from COSCO Container Ship Cleared
By Sunday afternoon, workers had successfully cleared the oil which leaked after a container ship of China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO) sank Friday off Sanya City in China's southernmost Hainan Province, according to local maritime affairs officials.

The officials said a cleaning ship started to recover the oil Saturday morning. Later, four powerboats, a speed boat and several fishermen participated in the mission.

The 134.5-meter-long container ship "Shahekou" sank Friday in the sea off Sanya, a tourist resort famous for its beautiful beach. A small amount of the 500 tons of oil on board leaked.

The cargo and all the 41 people on board were safely transferred to other vessels.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
