'Snakehead' Sentenced to Life Imprisonment
Ningbo City Intermediate People's Court in east China's Zhejiang Province sentenced Song Yuanri to life imprisonment for organizing illegal emigration.

Song, using the pseudonym Li Longzhe, organized an illegal emigration trip on Oct. 8, 2001, in which all 25 emigrants suffocated to death after being transferred to boats from the Republic of Korea. The dead bodies were cast into the sea.

For about one year, Song had been hiding in places like Shandong, Beijing, Liaoning and Jilin before he was finally arrested last October.
