The vehicle, which was not registered, was carrying 38 people, including the driver, and some freight at the time of the accident.

The driver apparently lost control as the vehicle was traveling downhill on a steep incline. The passengers were thrown out when the vehicle struck an embankment. The vehicle was totally destroyed.

Of the dead, the oldest was more than 60 years old, and the youngest only about six.

Those killed included 18 males and 14 females.

Secretary of Guangdong Provincial Committee of the CPC Zhang Dejiang and Governor Huang Huahua instructed local authorities to investigate the accident.
