Last SARS Patient Leaves Hospital

The last remaining SARS patient in Beijing has made a full recovery and left hospital.

The Chinese Ministry of Health has confirmed that no new cases have been identified on the mainland during the past 24 hours.

The president of Beijing Ditan Hospital Mao Yu said the patient, a 49-year-old retired doctor surnamed Zhang, shows no SARS symptoms, meeting the requirements to be discharged. Another patient, surnamed Yang, a researcher at the institute of virology with the China Diseases Prevention and Control Center, left hospital on Thursday after his body temperature remained normal for 10 consecutive days.
