Food Poisoning Sickens at Least 89

A mass food poisoning in Liaoning Province had left at least 89 victims hospitalized as of 2:30 pm Wednesday, according to local doctors.

All the inpatients, including two children, showed the symptoms of being poisoned after they took meals in a restaurant in Benxi Man Autonomous County Monday evening and Tuesday noon, doctors said.

A woman surnamed Wang, who is in hospital, recalled she attended a wedding banquet of one of her relatives Tuesday noon together with about 100 people, and felt bad in the evening. She went to see a doctor Wednesday morning and was hospitalized.

Doctors said the inpatients mainly suffered sickness, diarrhea, fever and even shock, but all were in safe condition.

The restaurant has been closed down, and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
