China Gold Foil Museum Opens

China's first gold foil museum opened recently in Jiangning District of Nanjing City, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, to exhibit traditional techniques and the modern development of gold foil.

The museum, covering over 4,000 square meters of floor space, has over 3,000 pieces of gold foil art work on display in its 8 exhibition zones.

Jiangning is the hometown of gold foil in China, with a production history of over 2,000 years. Gold foil is usually used as decoration in palaces, temples and other architecture, as well as in medicine and food.

The museum cost over 60 million yuan (about US$7.2million) to construct.
