Disaster Relief for Snowstorm-hit Inner Mongolia

People in the blizzard-hit Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region are receiving grain, clothes and fodder from local governments to help them through the hard times.

So far, the autonomous regional government has appropriated about 22.6 million yuan (about US$2.7 million) and about 4,500 sets of cotton-quilted coats to the disaster-torn people. The government of Xilin Gol league, one of the hardest-hit areas, has provided the victims with five million kilograms of grains.

The autonomous region in north China has suffered from snowstorms since last winter.

The local government has delivered 133 million kilograms of forage and 79 million kilograms of fodder to save the affected livestock.

People in the disaster-hit areas were also organized to start self-help production projects, while the whole nation is drumming up donations for the region to help it overcome the adversity.
