Foreign Ministers Hold Talk to Hail Sino-Brunei Ties

Chinese Foreign Minister Tang Jiaxuan held talks Tuesday with visiting Brunei Foreign Minister Pengiran Muda Mohamade) Bolkiah, expressing satisfaction with the development of Sino-Brunei relations.

While extending his appreciation to the success of the APEC High Level Meeting on Human Capacity Building co-chaired by China and Brunei, Tang expressed his warm welcome to Mohamad, who served as a founder of Brunei's diplomatic ties with China 10 years ago.

China has always valued good neighborly relations with the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries including Brunei, said Tang, adding that China is willing to move forward with the all-around cooperation with Brunei on the basis of equality, mutual respect and mutual benefit.

Mohamad shared Tang's view on bilateral ties, noting that the constant exchange of visits, by high level leaders from each country, has enhanced and will increase bilateral ties.

The two foreign ministers also exchanged views on bilateral trade and economic cooperation and on international and regional issues of common concern.

Mohamad arrived here Tuesday for an official visit at Tang's invitation. He will also attend the Third ASEM (Asia-Europe Meeting) Foreign Ministers Meeting, May 24 to 25.
