Chinese Premier Meets Mexican President

Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met in Beijing Thursday afternoon with visiting Mexican President Vicente Fox Quesada.

Zhu said the in-depth and candid talks Wednesday between Chinese President Jiang Zemin and Fox has laid an important foundation for a further development of China-Mexico friendly and cooperative relations in the new century.

Zhu said the two countries have good cooperative relations, and China attaches great importance to the development of Sino-Mexican friendly relations.

China is willing to work with Mexico by taking practical measures to expand and strengthen bilateral cooperation in an effort to benefit the two peoples, added Zhu.

Zhu said there are vast potentials for bilateral cooperation, which will be further exploited by Fox's visit, and bilateral cooperative prospects are broad.

President Fox said his current visit to China is of great importance for the two countries to build a beautiful future in the new century.

President Fox reiterated that Mexico supports China's entry into the World Trade Organization, and will take a flexible attitude in the next round of Sino-Mexican negotiations on China's entry, in a bid to conclude bilateral negotiations at an early date.
