Chinese Defense Minister Meets Bangladeshi Guests

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian met Monday with Ahsan N. Amin, chief of the general staff of the Bangladeshi army, and his party.

Chi, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, noted that Bangladesh is China's close neighbor. Having maintained good relations, China and Bangladesh have supported each other in international affairs.

China thanks the Bangladeshi government for its support to China on the issues of Taiwan, Tibet and human rights, he said.

The defense minister said that as a component of Sino- Bangladeshi relations, the friendly relations between the two armed forces demonstrate the flourishing bilateral ties.

He added that the development of Sino-Bangladeshi relations conforms to the fundamental interest of the two peoples and benefits regional peace and stability.

Ahsan N. Amin said that the military relations between Bangladesh and China have developed smoothly, and he believes that the visit will promote bilateral cooperation in the military and other fields.
