Chilean President Attends Seminar in Shanghai

Chilean President Ricardo Lagos Escobar attended and addressed a trade seminar in Shanghai Monday.

Escobar said that in recent years Chile and Shanghai have achieved progress in trade and economic cooperation, which is quite promising. He expressed the hope that Shanghai entrepreneurs would invest more and build joint ventures in Chile.

The import and export value between Chile and Shanghai totaled $US 604 million last year, 5.6 times higher than in 1995. The export and import value between the two sides in the first eight months this year reached $US 380 million,increasing 163 percent compared with the corresponding period of last year.
